Substance Abuse (MICA)

Group therapy

The major purpose of substance abuse groups is increasing awareness about the behavioral, medical, and psychological consequences of substance abuse.  We work with our clients to help motivate them to enter the recovery-ready stage.

Relapse Prevention

Our relapse prevention groups are designed to create a forum wherein our clients can feel comfortable discussing the factors that trigger them to use.  Our staff are trained to educate clients with preventative methods that will help clients to abstain from substance use.

Cognitive Methods and Coping skills

Our staff will help clients to gain awareness of the core beliefs and how to begin changing the way they think to empower them to cope with negative stress in their lives. These groups are a great setting for clients to receive encouragement from other individuals while dealing with difficult situations in their life.

Communication Skills

Communication skills group provide a healthy forum for individuals to evaluate how they communicate and what areas of their communication need to be improved.  Through group therapy individuals learn how to effectively convey and process what others are expressing to help in the process of achieving overall wellness.

Anger Management

Anger management activities for groups help people understand what makes them angry. They can also teach people how to deal with their frustration, irritation, and anger before they build up stress, create conflicts in relationships, and cause chaotic situations. This type of group helps individuals gain insight into their anger by identifying the cause and creating skills to find healthy outlets to managing their anger.
